Representatives of Comenius University Conducted a Two-Day Intensive Course at European University
On 7-8 May, within the framework of the Erasmus+ International Academic Mobility programme, representatives of Comenius University (Bratislava, Slovakia) conducted a two-day intensive course at European University.
Organized by the International Relations Office, the workshop series entitled “Climate Change and EU Policies: Managing Climate-Related Risks Through Law, Land and Forest Governance” brought together students and staff to discuss contemporary climate-related challenges and European legal approaches to environmental governance.
The course was led by Maroš Pavlovič, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law and Assistant Professor at the Department of Administrative and Environmental Law, as well as Assistant Professors Ľudovít Máčaj and Matus Michalovic from the Faculty of Law of Comenius University.
Throughout the course, participants explored current challenges related to climate change, the principal directions of European Union environmental and climate policies, and legal mechanisms associated with managing climate-related risks, environmental protection, and the sustainable governance of land and forest resources. Particular attention was devoted to environmental law, land and agricultural law, the impact of climate change on natural resources, and relevant European practices and regulatory frameworks.
In addition to the theoretical component, the programme incorporated practical elements, including case-study analysis, discussions of legal challenges linked to climate governance, and group-based activities that enabled participants to exchange perspectives and engage with European experiences in the field.
The initiative aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of legal and policy issues related to climate change, strengthen international academic cooperation, and facilitate the sharing of European expertise among students and academic staff.
