On October 31, at the Pullman Tbilisi Hotel, a Model United Nations Security Council – Open Debate on Women, Peace, and Security was held, organized in cooperation between UN Women Georgia<\/a><\/span> and European University.<\/h5>

The initiative was based on the practice of the UN Security Council and aimed to simulate the annual open debate on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) issues.<\/p>

Opening ceremony was attended by Nikoloz Parjanadze, Vice-Rector for International Relations at European University.<\/p>

Audience was welcomed by Kaori Ishikawa, Representative of UN Women in Georgia, and Anne Toft S\u00f8rensen, Ambassador of Denmark to Georgia.<\/p>

The event was attended by Eka Kavelidze, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Humanities, and Social Sciences at European University.<\/p>

Candidates for the debate were prepared by Levan Meshkhoradze, Head of the Bachelor\u2019s Program in Law at European University.<\/p>

The event featured a full debate program designed to enhance young participants understanding of international politics and the WPS agenda, as well as to provide them with practical experience.<\/p>

The event included several sessions:<\/strong><\/p>

First Session:<\/strong>
Participants presented their countries\u2019 official positions on the Women, Peace, and Security agenda.<\/p>

Second Session:<\/strong>
They discussed a new draft resolution of the UN Security Council and engaged in negotiations and the decision-making process.<\/p>

Third Session:<\/strong>
Participants presented their perspectives on the adoption of the resolution, took part in debates, and conducted a simulated voting process.<\/p>

Before the debates, delegates took part in a preparatory workshop held at European University. The workshop aimed to deepen their knowledge of the WPS agenda, strengthen their negotiation skills, and prepare them for the complexities of the Security Council\u2019s procedures.<\/p>

During the debates, participants represented their countries\u2019 positions, formed alliances, and, through simulated voting, adopted a new resolution on Women, Peace, and Security – demonstrating leadership and a vision for inclusive peacebuilding.<\/p>

The winners of the debate were:<\/strong><\/p>

1st Place<\/strong> – Mariam Tvaladze (Caucasus University)
2nd Place<\/strong> – Giorgi Gurchumelia (Caucasus University)
3rd Place<\/strong> – Elene-Ekaterine Dvalidze (Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University)
3rd Place<\/strong> – Tsotne Kokiashvili (Caucasus University)<\/p>

Participants had the opportunity to strengthen their analytical and debating skills, exchange knowledge, and apply their understanding of Women, Peace, and Security issues in practice.<\/p>
