საჯარო ლექცია
On March 30 at 14:00, a public lecture titled – “Value-Based or Treaty-Constrained? The Significance of Positive Obligations in European Union Criminal Law” will be held, organized by the Institute of Law of European University.

The lecture will be delivered by Søren Verdoner, Professor of Criminal Law at Aarhus University in Denmark. During the lecture, he will discuss one of the most compelling debates in the development of European Union criminal law: whether EU criminal law policy should be determined solely within the limits of competences conferred by the treaties, or whether it should also be grounded in the protection of the EU’s fundamental values and their practical implementation.

The lecture will give students the opportunity to reflect on an important question – when the European Union seeks to protect its values in the field of criminal law, to what extent does it act within the competences defined by the treaties, and does it sometimes go beyond established legal boundaries?

The event will be of interest to:

  • Students
  • Researchers
  • Academic staff
  • Anyone interested in EU law and contemporary developments in criminal law

Attendance is free.

Consecutive interpretation will be provided.

Venue: 76 Davit Guramishvili Street, European University, Auditorium 505.
