European University has won an Erasmus+ grant to implement the Jean Monnet Module (2023-2026). The module is entitled “European Union Enlargement: Past Lessons for Future Decisions” (101127859, Acronym - EnlargEU) and has the duration of three years. An Academic Coordinator of the module is Tatia Dolidze, who acts as the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and also serves as the Head of the International Relations Bachelor's program at European University. Another professor from the European University IR program, Levan Makhashvili,  invited researchers Bidzina Lebanidze and Tinatian Akhvlediani, as well as famous foreign experts, Steven Blockmans and Christophe Hillion are all among the members of the Module-implementing academic team.

The overall objective of the mentioned Jean Monnet Module is to raise the awareness of the Georgian youth and young academics about the EU’s enlargement policies, dynamics, and enlargement negotiation procedures  from political, economic and legal perspectives through teaching, policy discussions and practical workshops. The main activities include the development of a course syllabus on the “History of EU Enlargement: Policies and Politics”, which will be integrated into the International Relations program at European University, as well as planning and organizing three summer schools that the Module team is committed to hold during the lifespan of the project.

It should be mentioned that EnlargEU is going to be the second Jean Monnet Module implemented by European University. The previous module „Europeanization as an Instrument for Democratization of Georgia” (620916-EPP-1-2020-1-GE-EPPJMO-MODULE), coordinated by Prof. Levan Makhashvili, was successfully completed this year, with the official closing event held in March.
