About the Jean Monnet Summer Academy:

This ceremony marks the successful completion of an intensive 30 academic contact hours program focusing on “EU Enlargement: Theory, Practice, and Contemporary Challenges.” The Academy was conducted within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module “European Union Enlargement: Past Lessons for Future Decisions” (EnlargEU – 101127859), featuring distinguished international experts from across Europe and North America.

Program Highlights:

  • Opening Remarks (16:00–16:10) – The ceremony will commence with welcoming addresses from European University leadership and the Erasmus+ National Office in Georgia, celebrating the achievements of our Academy graduates.
  • International Expertise: Croatia’s EU Journey (16:10–17:05) – Dr. Kosjenka Dumančić, Jean Monnet Chair at the University of Zagreb, will join online to share Croatia’s transformative experience as the EU’s most recent acceding country, offering practical insights into the enlargement process and lessons learned.
  • Georgian Perspective: Current Challenges (17:05–18:00) – Dr. Guranda Chelidze, Jean Monnet Chair at Caucasus University, will examine Georgia’s EU integration journey, analyzing challenges reflected in recent Enlargement Package assessments and providing expert analysis of our country’s European path.
  • Expert Panel Discussion (18:00–18:30) “EU Enlargement Perspectives” – A distinguished panel featuring Academy speakers, Dr. Tamta Tskhovrebadze (Webster University Georgia; Dr. Tinatin Akhvlediani (College of Europe, CEPS Brussels ანდ Dr. Bidzina Lebanidze (University of Jena, GIP Tbilisi), moderated by Dr. Tatia Dolidze, Jean Monnet Module Academic Coordinator.
  • Interactive Q&A Session (18:30–19:00) – Engage directly with our expert speakers and panelists in discussions about EU enlargement and Georgia’s European integration.
