International Students Visited the Monument “The Chronicle of Georgia”

As part of the practical course in Georgian as a foreign language, international students of the European University’s spring semester visited the monument “The Chronicle of Georgia.”

To complete the classroom assignment planned within the practical course, the students were required to research information about various notable historical Georgian figures, including the creator of the Georgian alphabet, King Pharnavaz, and identify the corresponding monuments.

Before completing the assignment, the students were briefed on group movement protocols and safety guidelines, the route to the monument located near Tbilisi Sea, the expected means of transportation, and essential Georgian vocabulary for communication with local drivers including key orientation terms.

The international students actively and enthusiastically engaged in the learning process. They presented the materials they gathered in groups to their lecturer, PhD Natia Putkaradze, a Doctor of Philology. They spoke about the accomplishments and contributions of prominent Georgian figures and made efforts to use the Georgian phrases and vocabulary they had already learned.

The students observed the religious scenes depicted on the first level of the monument and took commemorative photos.

Such practical activities support international students in reinforcing and applying the theoretical knowledge they have acquired.
