International Staff Week 2025
From May 19–23, 2025, European University in Tbilisi proudly hosted its third International Staff Week, welcoming 16 representatives from 11 partner universities across 8 countries. The event featured a rich and diverse program combining professional sessions, practical workshops, and cultural experiences designed to foster collaboration and exchange of knowledge and culture.
The week began with an introduction to European University’s institutional history and ongoing academic initiatives. Participants also had the opportunity to present their own institutions, promoting mutual understanding and the exchange of best practices.
A key component of the program focused on practical collaboration. During a working session on Erasmus+ project applications, participants received expert guidance and shared strategies for improving future proposals. One highlight was a timely session on the role of artificial intelligence in higher education, where participants engaged in thoughtful discussions on both the opportunities and challenges AI presents for universities today.
The internationalization of higher education institutions and emerging global trends were central themes throughout the week. Sessions explored strategic approaches to international partnerships, quality assurance, and the evolving nature of global academic collaboration.
Beyond academic dialogue, the program placed strong emphasis on cultural immersion. Guests took part in a Georgian language workshop, discovering the uniqueness of the Georgian alphabet and learning everyday phrases. A guided tour of Tbilisi’s historic landmarks offered insights into the city’s cultural legacy. One of the week’s highlights was a full-day trip to the Kakheti region, where participants experienced traditional Georgian cuisine, explored local art and traditions.
The week concluded with a panel discussion titled "Universities Without Walls," where representatives together with invited guests reflected on ongoing transformations in global education and shared their visions for the future.
European University’s International Staff Week served as a platform to deepen international collaboration, address shared challenges, and promote inclusive and innovative approaches in higher education. The university extends its sincere appreciation to all participants for making the event both meaningful and memorable.
