As part of StudFest, organized under the initiative of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, the LEPL Youth Agency, the Tbilisi City Hall, and the Georgian Student Organizations Association, a volunteer competition was held, in which teams from universities across Georgia participated.

This year, students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at European University implemented the project “Protect the Environment and Each Other’s Health – Together with VetEUcares” as part of the volunteer component. The project aims to raise awareness about the dire consequences of environmental pollution within society.

Within the project, students carried out the following activities:

  • Conducted informational presentations in 15 public schools about environmental protection and zoonoses (zoonoses are infectious diseases that can be transmitted between animals or from animals to humans and vice versa). To illustrate the spread of microorganisms, students demonstrated an experiment using a special solution, which could be visualized with ultraviolet light.
  • Engaged with pet owners to raise awareness about zoonoses, explained the risks of leaving animal waste in the environment, and encouraged responsible disposal. Participants were also provided with biodegradable waste bags, cases for these bags, informational leaflets, and accessories.
  • Organized cleanup activities in Digomi Forest Park, around Lisi Lake, the Tbilisi Sea shore, and its surrounding forest area.
