Scientific bases

Elsevier is a Dutch information and analytics company and one of the world's major providers of scientific, technical, and medical information. It was established in 1880 as a publishing company. It is a part of the RELX Group which is a corporate group operating in 40 countries. Its products include journals such as ‘’The Lancet and Cell’, the ‘’ScienceDirect’’, collection of electronic journals, the series of journals, the online citation database ‘’Scopus’’, and the ‘’ClinicalKey’’  solution for clinicians. Elsevier's products and services include the entire academic research lifecycle, including software and data-management, instruction and assessment tools. 
The electronic database of Elsevier makes available to scientists not only the short annotations of scientific literature published throughout the world but also full versions of the work. Elsevier makes it possible to find quotations and other bibliometric information. Only two companies have such big electronic databases and one of them is Elsevier.
For using of the electronic databases, please register with the relevant e-mail in the relevant registration field. Bases can only be accessed from university campuses.
 

 

Scopus.com is Elsevier’s abstract and citation database launched in 2004. Scopus covers nearly 36,377 titles from approximately 11,678   publishers, of which 34,346 are peer-reviewed journals in top-level subject fields: life sciences, social sciences, physical sciences. It covers three types of sources: book series, journals, and trade journals. All journals covered in the Scopus database, regardless of who they are published under, are reviewed each year to ensure high quality standards are maintained. Scopus gives four types of quality measure for each title; those are h-index, CiteScore, SJR and SNIP.
 

ScienceDirect.com is a website which provides subscription-based access to a large database of scientific and        medical research.   ScienceDirect is operated by the Anglo-Dutch publisher Elsevier. It was launched in March 1997. It hosts over 12 million pieces of content from 3,500 academic journals and 34,000 e-books. The journals are grouped into four main sections: Physical Sciences and Engineering, Life Sciences, Health Sciences, and Social Sciences and Humanities. Article abstracts are freely available, but access to their full texts (in PDF and, for newer publications, also HTML) generally requires a subscription pay-per-view purchase.

EBSCO- Databases

European University offers all its members the world's most recognized and popular scientific electronic database EBSCO - The leading provider of information services for all the libraries in the world, containing hundreds of research bases, historical archives, scientific references, etc.  The most important advantage of the use of EBSCO is that databases, besides archived material, offer the latest resources. Follow this link to access the EBSCO base. When entering the link from outside of the university premise you will need identification data - contact the library staff to get a username and password. 

 

Academic Search Elite - Consists of various academic resources and thousands of journal texts, abstracts and indexed journals on various subjects. Database in most journals consists of PDF files. Academic Search Elite also offers access to the video materials of the world leading information agency “Associated Press”. The video material appropriate for the words entered in the search filed will appear in results. The database contains video materials created since 1930 and they are updated in monthly manner. The database adapted to the needs of the researchers contains valuable and varied, multidisciplinary materials that enable access to accounting, banking and finance, international business, marketing, sales and other disciplines as well as to full texts of journals and publications, and other important resources.

Health Source : Consumer Edition + Nursing/Academic Edition  - Offers more than 1000 scientific texts on medical disciplines, including: Critical Patients Care, Mental Health, Psychiatric Treatment for Children and Adults, Nursing, Management of Nurses, Nursing Ethics, Dependence and Rehabilitation Counseling, Medical Law, Reproductive Medicine, Environmental Protection and Health Care, etc. (Health Source : Consumer Edition and Nursing/Academic Edition).

Business Source Elite  - This resource offers scientific journals in business, management and economics. The collection contains a variety of topics, such as Accounting, banking, finance, marketing, sales and other released publications. Database offers access to the video archive of the world leading news agency Associated Press, which contains a wide variety of materials from 1930 to present. The video archive is updated monthly.       

MasterFILE  ELITE  - Specially created for public libraries. This database contains up to 1700 periodicals which will provide you with information about business, health, education, science, multicultural and many other areas. It also contains a full text of more than 500 books, more than 81 900 documents and photo collection, which consists of 935,000 photographs, maps and flags.    

Library Information Science & Technology Abstracts (LISTA) - Includes 580 basic journal indices, more than 50 priority journals and about 15 selective journals, books, research reports, etc. The materials in this database are available since 1960. EBSCO is willing to provide you with permanent access to LISTA. The dictionary contains more than 11 200 terms, 4 090 of which are priority terms. The database contains profiles of authors. Users have the ability to access work of more than 5200 frequently indexed authors of the database. For example, the terms of the subject that most reflect the content of the article and the publications, where the author has printed his papers.

GreenFILE - It is a collection of scientific, governmental and popular materials that contain materials on following topics: environmental impacts on individuals, corporations and local self-government and government, and what we can do to improve it. This Free Research Database offers more than 780,000 record Indices and Abstracts and over 11,000 full texts. Main journals are Agriculture, Ecosystem and Environment, Conservation Biology, Forest Ecology and Management, International Green Energy Journal, Wildlife Management.

Medline - Is a source of respected medical information that contains information on various fields of medicine such as nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, health care system, pre-clinical subjects and more. This database is designed by MEDLINE - the National Library of Medicine - and uses the MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) index allowing access to more than 5600 current medical editions.     

ERIC (the Education Resource Information Center) - Offers information from various magazines that are indexed as Current Index of Journals in Education and Resources in Education Index. The database contains more than 1.4 million records and offers links on more than 337 000 full text. 

Newspaper Source Offers complete TV and radio news transcripts from the following channels: CBS News, CNN, CNN International, FOX News, NPR and others. This database offers full text from hundreds of national (US), international and regional newspapers. In addition, it offers transcripts of TV and radio news programs.

Business Regional News  - Is a diverse database that offers full texts on business publications in the US and Canada. It covers any information, whether it is the biographies of presidential candidates, restaurants franchise or trade networks, business planning or political involvement. Regional Business News gets content from leading publishers such as The Business Post, The Washington Post, PR Newswire US and others. The main resources are newspapers, radio and television news transcripts, full publications and magazines throughout the last 20 years.  

eBook Clinical Collection  - The database is designed specifically for clinics, biomedical libraries and medical academic institutions. It includes over 3500 selected e-books in medical direction, including nursing, health and general practice.  The eBook Clinical Collection base gives customers access to the most important and the latest editions. The base is continuously updated, new e-books replace old editions, so customers are always supplied with the latest ones. 

 

 

eIFL – Electronic information for libraries

The reader of the European University Library has the opportunity to use electronic resources for e-mail bibliographies - eIFL, in which the world-famous and popular periodic editions are collected. This base provides access to only certain articles of magazines with full texts. Access to databases is possible from university campuses only.
