the 19th Student Scientific Conference was held at European University organized by the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry

On December 18-19, the 19th Student Scientific Conference was held at European University, organized by the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry.

At the conference, students of the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry presented research-based reports addressing various current issues in medicine and dentistry.

In addition to students of European University, students from other universities also participated in the 19th Student Scientific Conference.

The conference participants were evaluated by a specially selected scientific committee consisting of:

Maia Mantskava – Professor of the Faculty of Medicine, Senior Research Scientist at the Medical Research Institute of the European University

Eka Kokhreidze – Associate Professor of the Faculty of Medicine, Research Scientist at the Medical Research Institute of the European University

Davit Malidze – Professor of the Faculty of Medicine

Tamar Aladashvili – Invited Lecturer of the Faculty of Medicine

Marika Zurmukhtashvili – Associate Professor of the Faculty of Dentistry

At the conclusion of the conference, the committee identified the authors of the best papers:

I Place

Students of the Georgian-language MD program at European University: Mariam Shengelia and Mariam Mchedlishvili, Topic: “SAVR – Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement and TAVR – Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement”

Students of the Faculty of Medicine at Tbilisi State University: Davit Khvedelidze and Lika Londaridze, Topic: “Endocrine Disruptors / Phthalates and Breast Cancer”

 II Place

Yasmina Zatar, student of the English-language MD program and Mustafa Nassar, student of the English-language Dentistry program at European University, Topic: “Mechanistic Insights into Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Periodontal Disease: A Systematic Scoping Review of Inflammatory, Oxidative Stress, Hormonal-Metabolic, and Microbial Pathways”

III Place

Students of the Faculty of Medicine at Tbilisi State University: Tatia Chitaladze and Ani Shanava, Topic: “Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis of HIV Infection: Existing Approaches, New-Generation Therapeutic Agents, and Future Perspectives”

Special Nomination – “Best Clinical Case Presentation”

Student of the Georgian-language MD program at European University: Mariam Jojua
Topic: “Chronic Calculous Cholecystitis and Cholecystoduodenal Fistula”

Student of the Georgian-language MD program at European University: Gulnazi Maghradze
Topic: “Management of SJS/TEN with Methylprednisolone – A Clinical Case”

Special Nomination – “Best Review Paper”

Students of the Georgian-language MD program at European University: Levan Gugunava and Luka Kelenjeridze, Topic: “Modern Management Methods of Acute and End-Stage Chronic Heart Failure: Mechanical Support, Artificial Heart, and Experimental Gene Technologies”

The winners were awarded by the members of the committee and representatives of the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry.

All conference participants received certificates. Students who secured first, second, and third places were awarded special prizes and monetary rewards by the European University.
